Our client is an early-stage web application development company that specialises in producing secure and impactful web applications. They partner with both established enterprises and emerging businesses to create tailor-made solutions that evolve with their needs, ensuring scalability and continuous enhancement. The company is looking to grow and recruit an experienced PHP Developer.

Reporting to an experienced Team Lead and working closely with the team, building and maintain websites and applications, your main responsibilities as PHP Developer will include:

  • Writing clean, efficient, high quality PHP code that adheres to best practices, including readability, maintainability, and scalability
  • Producing detailed specifications for the features and functionalities you’re working on as guidelines for the development process
  • Troubleshooting and testing to identify and resolve issues to ensure the software functions correctly and efficiently
  • Maintaining databases to ensuring their proper functioning, optimisation, and security. This includes managing data storage, retrieval, and manipulation.
  • Collaborating with the team on designers, front-end development, and project stakeholders
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends, security protocols, and coding standards to enhance the overall quality of software
  • Developing and deploying new features, playing a key role in enhancing client the websites and applications, understanding user requirements and implementing solutions


As PHP Developer you’ll need:

 

  • Proven software development experience in PHP, writing clean, reusable and testable code
  • A strong education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is advantageous
  • Expertise in back-end web development and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
  • An excellent working knowledge of Laravel, and in particular, proficiency working with TALL stack
  • Good front-end skills, primarily with blade, alpinejs, livewire and tailwind
  • Experience working with Git
  • Experience with SQL and database systems such as MySQL
  • Beneficial experience: AWS, DevOps, React and Wordpress
  • Effective communication and teamwork are essential
  • Commuting distance to Newcastle advantageous


Rewards and benefits:

  • Salary £30,000 to £35,000 + pension + benefits
