Senior Front End Software Developer

Our client provides surveying technologies and services to some of the largest and well-known organisations in the country, helping them understand and manage the condition of their properties and assets with innovative information management and business intelligence systems.  It’s looking for a dynamic, driven Senior Front End Software Developer to help lead the development of next generation applications for their flagship building asset management solution.
 
As Senior Front End Software Developer you will have many opportunities to employ the latest technologies in these new products and will be on the cutting edge of front-end and mobile development, with an opportunity to work on back-end NodeJS services. As part of a small company, working on a ‘greenfield’ development, your role will encompass the entire software development life-cycle, from prototyping, design, coding, testing and deployment, all with a sprinkling of DevOps throughout.
 
Your responsibilities as Senior Front End Software Developer will include:
 
• You will be working in a small team with front-end and back-end specialists, to create a brand-new suite of reliable and scalable web and mobile-based solutions, on a range of modern cloud technologies
• Building multi-user single-page applications on an OpenAPI build data platform, and helping shape the front-end technical architecture and the user experience of client applications
• Assisting in the development of mobile apps using web-based technologies, including Ionic and NativeScript
• Continually learning and innovating, improving your workflow with the latest techniques and optimising the design, build, test and deployment of products, ensuring utmost reliability and service
 
You will need:
 
• Innovative and dynamic experience as a Senior Front End Software Developer
• A strong professional image with a sound understanding of and passion for technology
• Determination to make an impact on an industry worth £111bn per annum in the UK and the desire to work in a fast-moving, busy environment to achieve it
• Excellent commercial awareness and a track record of delivering software projects on time and within budget
 
Technical skills and knowledge required:

• Expert knowledge of JavaScript (ES2015+) and at least one modern front-end framework, such as Angular2+, ReactJS, or Vue.js
• Proven professional front-end web development skills (HTML5, CSS, TypeScript)
• Exposure to NPM, Webpack, and JavaScript unit & E2E testing frameworks (such as Jasmine, Karma or Jest)
• Familiarity with OAuth2, OpenID Connect and OpenAPI
• Demonstrate sound front-end engineering practices, with strong version control experience (Git / Github)
• Experience of using DevOps and CI approaches to automate deployment, configuration & testing
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• A strong aptitude for problem solving
 
Desirable skills and knowledge:
 
• Mobile development on Android or iOS (either natively or with a framework such as Cordova, Ionic or NativeScript)
• Experience of working with Linux
• ‘Backend’ development, especially NodeJS
• Familiarity with OWASP security standards or similar
• NoSQL/Schema-less/Document database experience will be useful
• Comfortable with multiple programming languages, so along with JavaScript you’ll be familiar with one of: Python, Ruby, PHP, Java, C/C# etc
• Have worked with Agile development and tools such as JIRA or YouTrack
