DevOps Engineer

£40,000 to £65,000 / Newcastle upon Tyne / Mar 4, 2019

Our client is an award-winning and market-leading North-East based digital specialist, highly focussed on the importance of mobile technology, digital strategy and user experience, delivering significant software development projects to an impressive portfolio of clients.

Entering 2019 with further growth in client accounts and revenue, they have a new opportunity for a DevOps Engineer to join the team and work with their clients on a variety of digital projects.
You will have proven expertise in building and supporting full production stacks, including networking, Azure, load balancing, performance monitoring, CI/CD and version control. You will be passionate about technology and quality focused.
 
As DevOps Engineer your role will entail:
 
  • Automation (Infrastructure-as-Code, Configuration-as-Code) and management of both on-premises infrastructure and applications, cloud hosted Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service capabilities (Azure) including virtual networks, virtual machines and data services
  • Monitoring and responding to incidents within Azure utilizing various remote and Azure monitoring tools
  • Defining and implementing cloud/Azure based large solutions
  • Implementing and hosting in Azure, configuring correct resource size and storage selection
  • Configuring subnets and NSGs in Virtual Networks
  • Defining highly available, DR solutions in Azure
  • Building CI/CD methodology in Azure
  • Supporting and maintaining database backup strategies
  • Implementing and configuration of Azure deployment slots
  • Management and supporting SSL installation/renewal processes
 

To succeed applying for the DevOps Engineer role you'll need:
  • Extensive relevant experience in a commercial role
  • Previous experience as a developer and/or as an infrastructure resource that is equally comfortable PowerShell, Azure ARM Templates and Azure DevOps
  • In-depth understanding of the Microsoft Azure platform
  • Understanding of Active Directory and Azure AD as related to SaaS offerings like Office 365
  • Working experience in Azure IaaS, PaaS, storage, network and database
  • Experience in defining cloud strategy for enterprise
  • Experience in automation solutions using Azure Resource Manager, PowerShell
  • Experience in implementing ASR
  • Experience in implementing and supporting web applications within load balanced environment
  • Experience with DDoS Mitigation
  • Experience with Azure automation accounts to support Update Management and DSC (Desired State Configuration)
  • Microsoft Certified Azure certifications (preferred)
  • Experience in Azure automation and DevOps (preferred)
  • Experience managing DNS
  • Ability to document procedures and policies carefully and accurately
  • Strong problem investigation and diagnosis skills
  • Pro-active self-learner capable of picking up new technologies quickly
