Data Analyst/Manager

£35,000 to £40,000 / Newcastle upon Tyne / Jun 22, 2017

Large, privately-owned, highly regarded and growing northern retail/service business, very well established and trading successfully from several group sites, requires Data Analyst or Data Manager - a newly created role designed to improve existing data quality then future quality and utilisation.

Working closely with experienced software development colleagues and extensively with customer data, multiple databases and systems, you will ensure that all data is accurate, current and compliant for reporting and providing business information/intelligence to Operations and Commercial managers/colleagues.

In addition to establishing data management policies, you will be responsible for:

  • Improving the effectiveness of the database tools and services
  • Ensuring all data complies with legal regulations
  • Ensure that Data is cleansed on a regular basis and all systems are up to date with accurate customer and product information
  • Designing and preparing reports for Marketing and management
  • Monitoring database performance
  • Improving the technology stack usage
  • Creating complex query definitions that allow data to be extracted
  • Monitoring data entry procedures
  • Providing individual training when required
  • Developing protocol for data processing
  • Data trend analysis and forecasting¬†

You will offer/need:

  • Strong Data Analysis and manipulation skills gained in a similar, fast-moving, database management type role, preferably with up-to-date knowledge of technology, including database software and web applications
  • An understanding of structured query language (SQL), knowledge of 'relational database management systems' (RDBMS), 'object oriented database management systems' (OODBMS) and XML database management systems advantageous
  • Ideally, basic to immediate programming skills (TSQL, MSQL)
  • Good communication skills, empathy, commercial awareness, integrity and leadership skills
  • Project Management experience is desirable
  • A full UK driving licence
