Sales & Marketing Director

£50,000 to £70,000 / Newcastle upon Tyne / Sep 20, 2019

Our client is an award-winning and market-leading North-East based software house, a highly successful privately-owned SME, operating nationally and focussed on the importance of digital transformation, mobile technology and user experience.  Well-established, with an impressive portfolio of clients and consistent record of profitable growth in sectors such as Travel, Public Sector, Financial Services and Education, they are currently looking to appoint to a new role of Sales & Marketing Director to lead further growth “to the next level”, and, ultimately, position the business for ownership and leadership succession.

Responsible to the Owner/MD (who has highly effectively carried this responsibility to date, as a highly astute if more technically-oriented person), for company, sales team and personal sales performance, as Sales & Marketing Director your responsibilities will include:

• Forming and executing sales and marketing strategies to keep the company competitive, innovative and in maximum profitable growth in the short, medium and long term
• Identifying and targeting valuable new and emerging markets alongside foreseeing and avoiding stagnation
• Accurately forecasting future sales and forming sales and marketing plans
• Seeking out major clients and forming working relationships with their buyers across multiple industries (approx. 75%) and well as effectively managing and growing existing accounts
• Overseeing, managing and developing the existing sales and marketing team, responsible for existing account management, bids, marketing and client service
• Developing implementing and improving sales and marketing systems and processes
• Serving as lead business representative for clients and prospects, including at major industry events, conferences, trade shows and expositions
• Trend analysis, market monitoring, and result tracking

As Sales and Marketing Director you’ll need:
 
• A solid and highly successful background of achievement in a lead or senior Sales & Marketing, Sales or Business Development role (eg Sales Director, Head of Sales or Sales Manager) including demonstrable recent success in winning new business
• Experience gained in a Digital or Software business with a strong understanding of technology and customer experience advantageous
• Target and results focus with exceptionally high levels of energy and commercial awareness
• Expert understanding of current sales and marketing concepts, strategy and best practice
• Business, Marketing or Communications degree/equivalent (or higher) desirable, as are relevant professional qualifications
• A strong desire to combine strategic planning and hands-on delivery
• Outstanding interpersonal skills – highly motivated and communicative, a strong negotiator and initiator, calm, flexible, collaborative, disciplined, proactive, with a growth and improvement focused approach
• Strong numeracy and IT skills
• Nationally mobile

Additional information:
 
• c.£50-70k per annum, plus uncapped bonus, plus benefits commensurate with role
• Share options will be provided for consistent successful performance
