Part-time Credit Controller

Our client is a multi-award winning business that has grown significantly, nationally, from its North East base over many years. It provides a variety of services to hundreds of corporate customers and is looking to further improve its already excellent cash position by strengthening its Credit Control function with the appointment of a new, experienced Part-time Credit Controller for 25-30 hours/week.

Reporting to the Finance Director, working closely with key Sales and Operations staff as well as other members of a small Finance team, your key responsibilities as Part-time Credit Controller will include:

  • Following up and discussing overdue balances with customers and their Accounts Payable staff
  • Understanding and resolving non-payment issues
  • Setting up payment plans and making sure customers adhere to the agreements
  • Managing credit limits and payment terms
  • Maintaining accurate records in accounting and credit control software
  • Liaising with external debt collection agencies
  • Raising credit notes and issuing refunds and processing on the system
  • Assisting with cashflow forecasting

As Part-time Credit Controller you will offer:

  • Strong recent Credit Control or Accounts Receivable experience gained in a fast-moving service driven environment
  • Comfort with Office and finance software such as Sage, Excel, Word and credit control related
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – communication, motivation, empathetic, high integrity and service focussed
  • A positive, flexible, cooperative and organised approach
  • Accounting or credit management qualifications may be beneficial but are not essential

Part-time Credit Controller benefits and rewards:


  • c.£24,000 salary (pro rata) with excellent flexible working arrangements
  • Mostly home-working - ideally Tyne & Wear or West Yorkshire based - approx. 1 day per week office-based
  • A friendly team and working environment
  • Permanent, part-time position of 25-30 hours per week
