Our client is a phenomenal, award-winning business success story, growing continually and quickly, from scratch, for 15 years, now an extremely profitable £300m turnover business - a highly innovative, technology-driven service enterprise employing 350+ people, mainly at its Newcastle headquarters.

Recently valued at £2.5bn, the company has new majority private equity ownership that, together with the existing leadership team, is looking to increase the company’s 20% market share and take the business to the next level. As part of this growth, we are supporting the strengthening of the finance team, appointing to a newly created senior Financial Reporting Accountant role.

As Financial Reporting Accountant you will lead on all aspects of year end and external reporting, managing projects to improve existing financial controls and governance to comply with statutory and financial services industry regulations. In the medium term, there will be progression opportunity, with managerial responsibility potential as the financial reporting team grows. There will also be the opportunity to support with month end, corporate governance and MI reporting.

Your duties will include:

• Leading on year end audit, interim quarterly audits and external financial reporting commitments

• Ensuring financial statements are prepared in line with accounting standards & group reporting timeframes

• Provision of commentary and analysis for board reports & investor relations

• Review and lead on the provision of statutory information & returns

• Development of internal accounting processes

• Ensure necessary governance and controls are in place to comply with industry regulations and reporting requirements

• Supporting wider finance team with month end processing & analysis

• Assisting with tax strategy

• Liaising with external bodies including auditors and business advisors


As Financial Reporting Accountant you will need:


Strong, progressive experience gained in a similar/related technically-oriented role – Financial Reporting Accountant, Financial Accountant, Audit Senior or Audit Executive – most likely gained in a medium/large business HQ, Big 4 practice or top tier accountancy firm. Financial Services experience advantageous.

• A qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA

• Working knowledge of IFRS and accounting standards

• Career and commercial focus with desire to develop professionally

• Advanced IT skills

• Process driven with the ability to strengthen internal controls

• Strong project management experience

• Cooperative/collaborative with excellent communication skills


  • Salary £40,000 - £55,000 + bonus (to c.£5k) + benefits
